Is President Bush Our Worst President Ever?
Discussing his new movie about President Bush, "W", director Olvier Stone recently said that President Bush may turn out to be "the worst president in history" (link).

With an approval rating hovering at a low 28% and gas prices steadily rising, President Bush could indeed use some positive news these days.
Amidst this bad news some good news did show up this past Sunday in an unlikely place: a Washington Post editorial. This editorial discussed some recent signs of improvement in Iraq. While the editorial said it's still too early to celebrate, it also emphasized some "rapidly improving conditions" and "positive trends" including "a dramatic drop in violence" (link). Also, a recent poll at Rasmussen Reports reported that 42% of American voters believe the United States and its allies are winning the war on terror compared to only 24% who believe that the terrorists are winning (link).
In my opinion, President Bush will not be remembered among our worst presidents, though his numbers are suffering right now. I believe his low numbers are partially due to the fact that he is president during an unpopular war. For example Harry Truman left office claiming the all time lowest approval rating for an American President - only 22%. His low approval rating was tied to the tragedies of the Korean War, though as more positive news came out of South Korea, history remembered him in a better light.

Hec no. I'm just really REALLY glad Al Gore wasn't president when 9/11 happened. In a scenario like that, no one would've ever voted democrat again. lol.
I heard that^.......Bush has help save this country from becoming what almost every other country has become............if the democrats win.......you'll see what a really bad president can do
I can't answer the question because I'm not American... and so I don't feel qualified to.
BUT I would like to know... who are you voting for this time around?
@FreeeVerse - McCain.
I don't think it would be fair to categorize Bush amongst the worst presidents ever because he didn't go to war alone, he didn't choose for the events of 9/11 to happen, and he didn't single handedly cause the atrocious gas prices. This man has had a lot on his presidental plate.
With that being said, I don't think many people in our generation will remember him in a favorable light. I'm also unsure how many people in our generation really understand the role of the president and what it entails exactly. I'm sad to think there are so many people who are being educated by what Hollywood elitists and the like tell them to think, say and do.
I will say that I could never take on the responsibilities of the presidency, and I think Bush did the best he could.
I voted for him (twice) and I do not regret that.
@Fargs - Me too. Thanks for the comment! Pete
AT one time, Richard Nixon was going to be the worst president ever, but with his work in gaining access to China, history changed him just a little. President Johnson was considered lamed and ego driven, but his administration helped to push through more civil rights laws than any other president before him. So Pete is right, the President is not KING. Our country is still run by the Legislative, Judicial House and the Executive.
As for the war, we should of done Afghanistan first, not Iraq. IMHO

@NanLou4 - Fair enough. Thanks for the comment! Pete
Goodness. 28%. That's just sad. I'm disappointed in politics.
@Suren911 - Who you voting for in 08? Just curious.
