Expensive Unexpected Expenses
So I got a $75 ticket yesterday for going straight in a turn lane, yet the arrows on the street were all but completely faded. I’m thinking of taking a picture of them and bringing them to court, although the last time I pled innocent the cop actually lied to the judge. In that instance the ticket was given to me for driving down a closed road, and the cop actually accused me of moving a barricade, which I didn’t do. So I took it to court and he denied ever accusing me of moving the barricade. Ah well, such is life I guess. It just sucks because my finances are hurting a bit this month for some reason, though I should be in a much better spot when Friday finally rolls around, especially since I worked overtime on a holiday last week (4th of July). It also sucks because this is my first ticket in over 2 years, and I’ve worked really hard to keep my driving record clean.
When’s the last time you got a ticket?
In related news my job is going alright, though I am hoping to get better hours soon. I currently work mostly nights and have Sundays through Tuesdays off. Yet a position with more normal hours will likely be opening up soon and my boss told me she’ll let me know when it’s available ASAP. I’m hoping that happens soon as well. In the meantime though, I am thankful that I have a job, and am hoping and praying it will be enough to pull me through this month with the unexpected expenses (driving ticket, etc.) I encountered.
On a scale of 1 to 10 how happy are you with your job?

can you ask for a prayer for judgement in the case, if it’s the only thing you have on your record they may just wipe it….but be careful for the next 3 years if you get another charge it’ll come back.
I’ve actually never gotten a ticket before. Knock on wood!
the last ticket I got was probably 6-7 years ago, for a rolling stop.
My job rates a 12.5 on your scale
@sean - I’d give my job a 7/10 on that scale, though I’m hoping for a better job soon!
I got a speeding ticket while speeding to my crappy job, this past winter. So I totally relate to this post, haha.
My advice: take pictures immediately, with the date on your digital camera. Seriously, you can fight this and most likely don’t deserve this (I TOTALLY deserved my ticket, if not more, haha). I hate seeing people being mistreated by the court system over stupid little crap like this.
Glad you like your job. I don’t mind mine, but the commute is becoming ridiculous, I’m not being paid enough to cover college loans, I’m still living with my parents, and there’s no chance for moving up career-wise at my current job sooooo… I’d give it a 6, if only for the cool skills I can now put on a resume.
What is it you do at your job Pete?
On a scale, I’d have to say for the most part 7/10.
That’s not to say I dont have days where it is 2/10.
Ha..
My last ticket was for speeding, but it’s been a few years.
But I do have a head light out that I have to get fixed today.
Be well,

@bleuzeus - Hey Matthew, I work with adults with developmental disabilities. I’m actually a house manager at a house with 5 clients. I just was offered a job yesterday at a similar organization though, and will probably take it. It has better hours and better benefits though the pay is not much. It involves some office work and some life-counseling and it’s somewhat new territory for me so I’m really nervous. But I will probably take the job tody. I will miss the guys at the house I currently work at but plan on visiting them often. Life change is always difficult, so feel free to pray for me if you get the chance. Thanks! Pete
@eowynnabeeowyn - I hear you on the college loans. Those babies are killer! Lucky my education guaranteed me mega money!!
Peace. Pete
@NowAndForever512 - Lucky!
Next time you get a ticket, take a video or pic for your own self preservation. LOL
Seriously, you can’t really trust the cops these days.
I have too many speed tickets to recall.
