  • Companies I love

What are some companies you love?

Here are a few of mine…

    amazon2
I currently get all of my music downloads, most of my books and also some Wii games from Amazon. The mp3′s are DRM free and are easily copied onto my mp3 player.

I do all of my audio recording on an old G4 tower, and the 6 year old machine works really well. My next computer will hopefully be the newly redesigned Mac Mini.

Nintendo – I’ve been a Nintendo fan most of my life. I think playing Goldeneye on 64 got me hooked, and I’ve always loved a good Mario Party game. Lately I’ve been loving “Endless Ocean” and “Dokapon Kingdom” for Wii.

Nokia – I once had a Nokia that I dropped in the toilet. It continued to work after that, and helped me appreciate even more what a great company Nokia is. Not only can the phones take a good swirlie, they are very user friendly and have enough applications for somebody like me.

My current car is not a Toyota, but the engine and transmission were made by Toyota. Therefore it runs well.

Myspace does a great job promoting bands but is ugly and full of ads. Blogger is free of ads if you want it to be, but isn’t very community basedl. Facebook has a great community but isn’t music or blog focused enough for me. Meanwhile, Xanga is attractive, community based, and is for artists, musicians, photographers and true bloggers. What more could I ask for?

  • Hey, thanks for the tip on Amazon mp3s — I haven’t bought any mp3s in awhile because of the DRM thing & having trouble copying from one computer/device to another.  There’s some Skillet and some Thousand Foot Krutch I’d like to d/l….

I agree with all of your positives and your negatives.  The tranny in my Jeep is not made by Toyota, but by Aisin, which I understand to be an Asian company that supplies Toyota as well (I believe the same transmission, the AW4, was used in the AWD Toyota MR2? something like that).  It still shifts smoothly after 142k miles.  The Jeep engine is great too, but that’s old-fashioned, inline-six American tractor engine technology. Get’s gas mileage like a tractor, too, unfortunately.

A note on Sony cameras:  Their DSLRs all use CompactFlash (so far… we’ll see what the next generation of DSLRs are designed for), which is much better than their MemoryStick. But you’re right, buying Sony always means you get an overdose of ‘proprietary’ junk, whether it’s video, still cameras, or even gaming consoles I guess. Honestly, I’d rather be shooting Nikon, but can’t afford to, yet — not that the Sony takes bad pictures, but I’d like to have Nikon’s low-light capabilities, customization features, and the flash setup.

  • I much prefer Sony Ericsson to Nokia. I have had Alcatel, Motorola, Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones before, and by far, Sony Ericsson is the best.

  • @MattBarber - Thanks for the feedback! Jeep is a great company in my opinion. I love the Wrangler, even though it’s really loud. It just has an awesome, classic American feel to it. Pete

  • @bella_esperanza - Thanks for the feedback. Have a good Monday! Pete

  • I used to like Amazon…until they decided to hate on the gays.

  • Howdy!  I saw that you stopped by the
Campfire earlier, and I wanted to drop in and let you know that it was
great to see you there, and you’re welcome back anytime!

    Cowboy

  • Hey Pete!

I’m so glad that you have stayed with Xanga. I’ve felt for quite a while that Xanga is more user-friendly than those other social networking providers you mentioned. And Xanga is where I encountered you, Pete!  And I’ve found you to be a really good xangamigo!

Your photography, as far as I am concerned, is second to none!  And contrary to your very modest opinion about yourself, you are also a strikingly good-looking person too!

But most important of all, you are an unashamed Christian!

    Peace!
    David

  • @Grampa_David - Thanks Grampa David. Your encouragement comes at the right time for me today! Pete

  • @Viewtiful_Justin - That kinda frustrates me…

  • Xanga, amazon and play.com and a few others
