un-English
"txting msgs 2 ppl iz cool! r u a txter?"
I don't know about you but I tend to text quite a bit, whether I'm pulsing, twittering, pinging or just chatting back and forth with a friend. Since I don't have an I-phone or Crackberry I almost always use predictive text on my little Nokia 5310. Yet I sometimes use words that my cell doesn't recognize. So I decided to check out some of the un-English words I've texted over the past several months, and here are a few of them...
Blithering
Brewski
Broast
Chillax
Coolio
D'oh
Delish
Ginormous
Geetar
Jib
Lemme
Prolly
Whitey
Whoa
Woot
Yeppers
Zebrula
Is texting ruining the English language?

No, fortunately
But I love using made-up English words, like ginormous and woot. Haha!

nope. i love text speak and i hope it all becomes standard parts of the English language.
i like ginormous. why do you use "whitey?" lol
@bella_esperanza@revelife - Nice I'm with you.
@NowAndForever512 - I am a whitey.
I call my white friends cracker or whitey.
@eowynnabeeowyn - hahaha glad I could help!
@nephyo - Nice. Thanks for the comment.
As a 20-something the texting language and typing have become a big part of my life.
As a teacher with an English degree, texting makes me want to cry. I teach 2nd grade so this doesn't directly come into play in my classroom, but my co-workers have shared their horror stories with me. An overwhelming majority of students turn in papers using made up words and short hand. Not to mention the complete lack of capital letters and appropriate punctuation in essays and on tests.
I have a love/hate relationship with texting.
@Fargs - Yeah you have a cool perspective here. For me cell phones were unheard of when I was in middle school and even most of high school. The times, they are a changin'!
Thanks for your submission. I also believe that laptop computers have become more and more popular today, and now are often the only sort of computer utilised in a household. The reason being at the same time they are becoming more and more cost-effective, their computing power keeps growing to the point where they can be as strong as pc’s out of just a few years back.
