  • What is one childhood habit that still comforts you even as you are older?

Growing up I had a favorite blanket and I used to like tickling my arms with it for some reason. I called it a "sheeper" blanket, and to this day I don't know what that means. But sometimes I still catch myself tickling my arms for some reason and then subsequently scratching them. It may sound weird but it is kind of comforting to me. You should seriously try it sometime. You won't be disappointed.

I also used to take baths as a kid and find myself enjoying them to this day. When visiting Japan a few years ago with my band we visited something called "onsen", or natural hot springs. Some included different therapeutic minerals or additives such as tea and lavender. The onsen were in the mountains so the hot water felt great against the cold snow. It was only like $20 for the day and it was definitely one of my favorite tourist attractions in Japan.

Interestingly, the Japanese Macaques (Japanese snow monkey) is the most northerly-living non-human primate, and are able to survive in the bitter cold partially because of onsen springs... (link)

Do you prefer baths or showers?

I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

  • Second from the left, huh? You're a bit hairy. :)

Childhood habit?.... Hugging a pillow, I guess. I hug pillows when I'm lonely or scared or just need comforting for whatever reason. And, that's cute... a "sheeper blanket".

I like showers, but I do like to treat myself with a bath when I get the chance. I like to fill the tub with lots of bubbles so I can play with them. I tend to light a few candles, maybe have a glass of wine, and daydream. The onsen sounds awesome! Sounds like my kinda place.

  • @casmarie - Wine and candles are great as well for sure... :)

  • @pedrothepoet - I don't drink much, but I do enjoy an occassional glass of wine. And then, I sell candles so I get plenty of them for free! :)

  • Well, you are quite the cute lil macaque second from left!  :)

When I was in junior high school, the moment I got back home I'd have a big glass of milk with a p&j sandwich and then hop on my bike.  I would ride from side to side of the road, doing a wide, soft zigzag, all the way to a little bridge where I'd stop and see whatever I could see in the creek below. Coolest thing was seeing a snake.  I did that every day.

  • my wife does the tickle thing for me.......we call it "tickle therapy."  I lay on the bed and she tickles my back and front and back of legs and arms........it helps with pain a great deal for a moment, and feels really amazing :)

and I do the shower thing........can't fit in the bathtub, hehe.

  • @thevertigopoet - & I thought I was the only one who did that.. :)

  • pillows...and lots of them. i used to roll out of bed a lot when I was little so my parents always surrounded me with pillows. Now, even in tiny college beds, I surround myself with pillows so I can fall asleep!

  • Hehe... I tickle my arms too (or let my bf do that) - and I thought I was the only one

  • @megan2303 - Nice! Pillows rawk...

  • @bendecida83 - I thought I was the only one as well.. Nice!

  • @jojobaDESIGNS - I love bike riding....

  • I love hot springs. They are great. When I used to live in Japan, I'd go there all the time. Ahhhh joy <3

  • One other issue is when you are in a scenario where you will not have a co-signer then you may want to try to wear out all of your financing options. You will discover many funds and other grants that will offer you finances to support with classes expenses. Many thanks for the post.
